Write for us
Urban Comedy Review welcomes pitches that make one clear point about comic writing or storytelling and show readers how to notice or use it.
What to pitch
We consider original pieces on joke construction, comic characters, scene dynamics, forms and performance choices. A strong pitch names its central question, explains the specific idea the piece will develop and tells us why the subject can hold a reader's attention beyond a passing trend.
What makes a good submission
Keep the proposal focused enough to explain in a few sentences. Ground claims in clear reasoning and examples you can discuss responsibly; distinguish a personal reading from a verifiable fact. Avoid pitches that rely on private information, unverified anecdotes or a single joke stretched beyond its useful length.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page. Choose the editorial option, give the pitch a useful subject and include a short note about your approach. Please do not send a complete draft unless it has been requested.
A laugh has a working shape.
Urban Comedy Review looks at the choices beneath comic effect: what a line sets up, what a character misses and when a scene changes direction.
